About QuickFixBase
Every fix on this site, I’ve done myself.
QuickFixBase is a one-person site. I’m not a corporation, a content agency, or an AI writing tool. I’m someone who has spent years dealing with the same tech problems you’re dealing with right now – and I got tired of the terrible instructions online. So I started writing better ones.
Why I built this site
Every time my Wi-Fi dropped, my WordPress site broke, or Windows ground to a halt, I’d Google the problem and end up in one of two places: a forum thread from 2018 with seventeen suggested fixes and no indication of which one actually worked, or a YouTube video where the first three minutes are someone adjusting their ring light.
I needed the answer. Fast. In plain English. With someone telling me exactly what to click.
That guide didn’t exist. So I started writing it.
Every article on QuickFixBase documents a fix I’ve personally applied – on my own devices, my own hosting account, my own home network. When something works, I write down the steps while they’re fresh. When the software changes, I update the guide. Nothing gets published until I’ve tested it myself.
What you’ll find here
Free tools that run in your browser. Clean up messy text, format JSON, test your microphone, webcam and keyboard, look up DNS records. Most tools work entirely on your device, so nothing you type or record leaves it. The few that need a server, like the DNS Lookup, say so on the page.
Step-by-step fixes for the problems I’ve dealt with most and know best:
- Home Wi-Fi: router restarts, security warnings and the fixes worth trying before you call your provider.
- WordPress and hosting: Cloudways setup, domains, DNS and SSL, plugins and settings.
- Windows: USB drive problems and the fixes that take one command.
- Everyday tech: phones, QR codes and the small annoyances in between.
How every guide is written
- I hit the problem myself (or recreate it). I don’t write about fixes I’ve read about. I write about fixes I’ve done. If I can’t recreate the problem, I don’t publish.
- I find the fix that actually works. Not the first fix I find – the one that resolves the root cause. I go through the bad suggestions so you don’t have to.
- I take screenshots as I go. Real screenshots from the actual software, taken while I apply the fix, wherever a step needs one.
- I write it like I’m explaining it to my parents. No jargon. No assumed knowledge. If a step needs a term explained, I explain it. If a step is obvious, I still include it.
- I update it when things change. Software updates. Interfaces move. When a guide stops being accurate, I fix it.
What I promise you
- Every fix has been personally tested. If I haven’t done it myself on a real device, it doesn’t go on the site. Full stop.
- Real screenshots. Not stock photos. Not generic illustrations. Screenshots from the software I used, wherever you need to find a button or a setting.
- Written for non-techies. I write every guide as if I’m explaining it to someone who’s never opened a settings menu before. Because sometimes, that’s exactly where you are.
- Always free. No email required. No paywall. No “sign up to see the rest.” Just find the fix and go.
How the site makes money
Right now, it doesn’t: QuickFixBase is free and has no ads. If display ads are added later, this page will say so, and they will never sit on top of or inside a tool. I don’t get paid to recommend specific products and I don’t publish sponsored guides. If a guide ever links to a product through an affiliate link, it will say so, and I only link to things I actually use.
